Overview

Session Plans turn coaching insight into action. Coaches can design detailed practice plans directly in PlayerUp — complete with drills, tags, videos, and timelines — or upload existing plans from PDFs or images. Each plan lives within your team’s calendar, making it easy for players and staff to know what’s happening before they arrive at the field.

Session Plans aren’t just checklists — they’re dynamic, reusable frameworks that help coaches stay organized, save prep time, and build a consistent training philosophy over the season.

Who it’s for:

  • Coaches who want efficient, purposeful sessions every time
  • Assistant coaches and staff collaborating on team planning
  • Organizations standardizing training approaches across teams

How it works

  1. Start from your team’s schedule
Open any upcoming event and tap “Add Plan.” PlayerUp automatically links your plan to that training session or game.
  2. Create or upload a plan
    • Build from scratch using a timeline of drills and activities
    • Add descriptions, tags (e.g., Offense, Agility, Small Group), durations, and optional video links or diagrams
    • Or upload an image or PDF of an existing plan
  3. Organize and reuse
Save plans as templates for future use. Coaches can duplicate and adjust plans based on player progress, season phase, or team needs.
  4. Align with goals and feedback
PlayerUp connects your session plan to recent evaluations and goals — so you can emphasize the skills that need the most work.
  5. Execute and reflect
During or after practice, coaches can adjust notes or mark completion, keeping a clear record of what was covered.

Key benefits

  • Saves time and improves consistency
Build plans once, reuse or adapt them throughout the season.
  • Connects planning to performance
Use data from evaluations and goals to design practices that target real developmental needs.
  • Improves staff collaboration
Multiple coaches can contribute to or review plans, ensuring alignment across a program.
  • Creates structure for players
Athletes know what to expect and what each session aims to accomplish.
  • Builds an organizational library of sessions
Teams and clubs can create a shared knowledge base of drills and plans for future coaches.
